Our Rediscovering Forgotten Treasures: Reconnecting With True Jewels
Unearthing Our Forgotten Treasures: Our True Jewels
Our Forgotten Treasures isn’t just simply a title of an oil on canvas original artwork. The concept of a treasure that has been forgotten is clearly understandable. But here, the title is a metaphor of sorts. Our forgotten treasures are not actually anything we have consciously, willingly forgotten about necessarily. These forgotten treasures are more about what we, each of us, are really, truly all about. Indeed, and we have forgotten who we are!
Unearthing our forgotten treasures can be an incredible personal experience, if only we would! As we go about our daily lives, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the modern world. Thus, we often forget to take a step back and appreciate the true beauty that surrounds us. Nature, in all its glory, is home to some of the most incredible treasures that often go unnoticed. Likewise, just as within each of us, these forgotten gems, these jewels of nature, are waiting to be discovered and cherished.
The Lost and Forgotten Treasures of “Self”
The age-old question, “if the tree falls, and there’s no one in the forest to hear it fall, did it actually make a sound at all?” becomes one of real contemplation. One of spiritual uplift! Notwithstanding, maybe one of contemplation finally realized. Likewise, it may trigger your thoughts into realizing a realm not previously considered by you at all. But then, that would make life be to you as you perceive it to be. Your perception is neither right nor wrong. It’s yours! This realm surrounds you. Our physical senses cannot presently perceive what dwells around all of us. Unfortunately, many of these inner treasures have been overlooked or taken for granted.
Our Forgotten Treasures of Nature’s Jewels
In the hustle and bustle of our modern lives, we often find ourselves disconnected from the natural world around us. We get caught up in the chaos of technology, work, and social media, forgetting the treasures that nature has to offer. Accordingly, these forgotten gems, often hidden in plain sight, hold the key to our inner selves and our connection to something greater.
Nature’s Lost Connection
It’s easy to see how we’ve become isolated from nature. And nature, as it would seem from our perspective, gets disconnected from us as well. The painting of our forgotten treasures attempts to illustrate that disconnect and how we may perceive the beauty of it as not so serene. At times, it may appear as a desolate winter. Our cities are filled with concrete jungles, towering buildings that block out the sun and the stars. Our lives are dominated by screens and artificial lights. These distractions keep us indoors and away from the natural rhythms of the world. We’ve lost touch with the simplicity and beauty of the natural world, and in doing so, we’ve lost touch with ourselves.
But even in the midst of this disconnection, something deep within us still calls to us. It whispers in the wind, sings in the birdsong, and dances in the colors of a sunset. It’s up to us to listen, to open our eyes and our hearts to the beauty that not only surrounds us outwardly, but encompasses our complete “forgotten” being.
Nature’s Solitude
When we take the time to immerse ourselves in nature, among our forgotten treasures, something magical happens. We find solitude, not in the sense of being alone, but in the sense of being connected to something greater than ourselves. In the quiet of a forest, the vastness of a mountain range, or the serenity of a beach, we find a peace that can’t be replicated by any man-made creation.
It’s in these moments of solitude that we can truly reflect on who we are and our place in the world. We realize that we are not separate from nature, but rather a part of it. We are intricately woven into the fabric of the universe, connected to every living thing. This realization brings a sense of awe and wonder, reminding us of the beauty and complexity of life.
A Personal Reflection
For me, nature has always been a source of inspiration and solace. As an artist, I find that my best ideas come to me when I’m surrounded by the sights and sounds of the natural world. The rustling of leaves, the babbling of a brook, and the scent of wildflowers all awaken something within me, sparking my creativity and allowing my thoughts to flow freely.
But it’s not just the creative aspect that draws me to nature. It’s the sense of peace and grounding that I find when I’m in its presence. In a world that often feels chaotic and overwhelming, nature provides a respite, a place where I can find clarity and perspective. It’s a reminder that there is so much more to life than the daily grind, that there is beauty and wonder waiting to be discovered.
So, let us not forget the treasures that nature has to offer. But also, let each of us reconnect within. The world around us, with the forgotten jewels that lie in our own backyards is certainly real. But let us take the time to listen to the whispers of the wind, to feel the warmth of the sun on our skin, and to marvel at the intricate beauty of a single flower within. In doing so, we may just find that we’ve rediscovered a part of ourselves that we never knew was lost; Our Forgotten Treasures!
